A three-month baby that went missing in Varkaus in eastern Finland was found abandoned in a snowdrift Monday afternoon, with the police saying the incident was treated as kidnapping.

The police said the infant had been taken to hospital.

A number of police units and an army helicopter took party in a search operation after the suspected kidnapping.

The baby's mother reported her son as missing from a pram left outside her friend's home Monday morning.
